Membership is required to participate in club activities ~ no tryouts permitted.

Membership in the Ottawa Rambling Club is open to persons eighteen (18) years of age and older upon making application and payment of prescribed annual fee.

As a member of the Club you will be entitled to:

  • receive the Club's annual 54-page calendar;

  • receive the Rambler, the Club's newsletter (4 issues annually) and the periodic ORC Bulletin;

  • participate in long-weekend out-of-town hiking trips;

  • participate in special events and social activities; and

  • receive an invitation to the Club's annual dinner and general meeting.

The basic annual membership fee is $14.00 (Cdn) for the 12-month activity year 1 April to 31 March, PLUS $7.00 liability insurance premium levy. The Club also offers a family membership plan.

** The first membership in the household (same mailing address) must be a Master class. Family-member class membership applications must accompany a master class membership application, and the mailing address for all family memberships in the household must be the same.

Note: Applications for membership can only be accepted for Canadian mailing addresses. If mailing application form please make cheque or postal order payable to the Ottawa Rambling Club -- do not send cash in the mail.

The membership list for 2010 will open at 0001 hours on 8 March 2010.

  • Click on the "Request for Membership" button above. An e-mail form will pop up. (Only e-mails generated by the "Request for Membership" button will be accepted -- there is a code embedded in the e-mail to identify that it has been generated by this method.)

  • In the body of the e-mail indicate the name(s) of person(s) for whom a membership application form is being requested.

  • Send the e-mail.

  • You will receive by reply e-mail within 24 hours an application form.
    Note: the reply e-mail will only be sent to the e-mail address from which the request was made – this is being done for control and audit purposes.

  • You will have 7 days from day reply e-mail is sent to mail in the application form (postmark will determine date you mailed the application form).

  • If application form along with membership payment is not received within the 7 day limit, your request for membership will be cancelled and the next person on the wait list will be offered the opportunity to apply for membership.

  • The requests for membership will be processed as they are received until all avialable slots for 2010 are used up. The date-time stamp generated by the ORC mail server will determine the order.
Sorry we cannot accept requests to be put on a reserve list.

At the Club's 2008 Annual General Meeting the membership reconfirmed the policy of holding the membership limit to 200 households. Reasons for the cap.


Visiting Ottawa

If you are visiting Ottawa, you are welcome to partake in the Club's outdoor activities as a guest. See Events Calendar for schedule of such activities. (Definition of a visitor is a person who's permanent residence is outside a 150 km radius from the Supreme Court building located at corner of Wellington and Kent streets in the City of Ottawa in the province of Ontario, Canada. You may be requested to produce proof of permanent residence.)
